Are ATR e-bikes road legal?
ATR bikes can be used on public roads when they meet local requirements. Laws differ by state, so check your local rules or contact us before purchase.
How fast do they go?
Road-use speeds are limited by law. Some bikes have higher performance capability for private property use only.
Are laws the same across Australia?
No — each state has slightly different rules. Always check your local regulations.
Can throttle-only bikes be road legal?
Generally no. Most states require pedal-assist operation for public road use.
State Guidance (Summary)
NSW: Rules tightening. Move toward 250W / EN15194. Strong enforcement.
QLD: 250W pedal assist, 25km/h limit.
VIC: 250W EPAC or 200W category.
WA: Pedalec or 200W allowed.
SA/TAS: 250W pedal assist standard.
